About a month ago, I have met one of the most amazing people. One of South Africa's brightest, young talents, named Tiro. Not only have God blessed him with one of the most powerful voices, but I truly believe hat he is the one that can bridge the gaps between black and white, young and old ....therefore unite South Africa in God's Name.
I gave him a call shortly after we met and arranged that he perform at the school where I am teaching. During his programme, there was something that tickled the taste buds of everyone. ALL, from teachers going on pension, young educators, grade 7's and even our grade 1's left his show with a smile the face and a message in the heart. Off course our senior girls had an extra broad smile, as he is quite an eye candy with a smile handcrafted by angels. All of us had renewed hope for South Africa. And we all know that without hope....there is no future, no way forward. Just as God teaches us in the Bible, belief, hope and love. My wish for this year is that his voice is to be heard right throughSouth Africa and this feeling of belief and hope spread through South Africa like wild fire.
This also contribute to my wish of peace and harmony for all of South Africa. I'm not part of his advertising campaign (although I would have loved to be part of someone that is so inspiring's team), but have experienced through him what true belief and hope for positive change feels like. You know what they say, what the heart is full of, overflows the mouth and therefore this letter. I feel it necessary to share this experience with the rest of our country, so they should not be deprived of such a unique experience. That day in the hall at our school...he was a role-model and inspiration to ALL with respect shown towards all, but especially towards his teacher, Mrs Evada van der Merwe, (or Juffrou as he calls her), who has discovered this diamond in the rough (from deep in the heart of Namibia) and has polished it to shine for a brighter South Africa.
If we all, especially our youth accept him as our role-model, there can only be positive change in our country.
Even after performing in front of 50 000 people at Ellis Park, his feet are still firmly on the ground. I know that he makes God smile.
